‘Workshopʼ defines our design process – in our search for appropriate solutions we openly test ideas with all members of the design team (ourselves, our clients and consultants). We are committed to the possibilities collaboration brings.
Each project begins with consideration of both the essential and the potential. The essential is constituted by the Client’s brief, technical requirements, program and statutory codes directing performance. Beyond the essential lies the potential, the infinite design possibilities inherent in the specific site as well as its economic, physical, historic and cultural context.
Our process is not linear, rather a series of iterative tasks which constantly inform the outcome. DRAW has developed a strategic approach to design where the particularities of each challenge are explored. We test multiple options with all members of the design team working extensively with physical and computer modelling to develop ideas and explain them to our clients, users and later to fabricators. Our design methods involve testing various formal opportunities and functional requirements whereby ‘function’ is not limited to the utilitarian brief, but rather engages with personal experience and social consequence.
Fundamental to our design process is an acute awareness of the commercial imperatives of our clients in the realization of their visions.
Our work is underpinned by a commitment to economically, socially and ecologically sustainable design practices and outcomes.
We are pro-active in every task.
